A lovely Spring Break dinner with the family

 





This french hermitage was a very floral or deep blackberry or cherry wine. It had more notes of black berry or a dark cherry and was very full body. This wine was served with a smoked pork and beef as part of a large family feast. 





This Merlot was a strong wine and was full body with a very high tannin it is also a product of France. My family also enjoyed decanting our wines this dinner and the flavors of the Merlot really shared a delicious full body sweet high tannin deep blackberry flavor.

 We had more than just two bottles of wine that day! This was the first time I had tried a Tempranillo and there was no better way to do it right than to try one from Spain. My family is Italian, but my dad had grown up on the hardier and fortified wines of the past. This was something I wanted to give to my family to try because it pairs amazing with pasta! Out on South Main street in B-burg!

 I was at vintage cellar and had the opportunity to try two wines! One was a Tutela Rose the grape was Prosecco! This wine was very delicious and in the middle between sweet and bitter almost perfectly. This sparkling wine had a fruity smell and light fruit like taste. This beautiful wine was completely forgotten when i got to taste another sparkling wine, a Rinaldi Moscato. This Moscato from Asti Spumante in Italy had a very honey flavor which made it very delicately sweet and fruity like.

2020 Merlot

Jan.29.2023 Today I tried a 2020 Merlot from J.LOHR. This wine is from Paso Robles, CA in the United States. Paso Robles is in central California near the coast of the pacific known for its hot weather. The price of this wine is $20 and I bought it from a local convenience store in Blacksburg. The smell of the wine was dark and rose. The wine could in a way smell close to black cherries or blackberry(pg 173 of Wine Folly). In the taste of this wine there was a deep rose, fruity and oak flavor. Overall this wine made a good dark red and in the future would blend well with slices of parmesan or another salty cheese.
